l u n c h b o x : fresh places to eat
over the past year or so i've had the opportunity to enjoy some of the eateries where the informal atmosphere and reasonably-priced food attracts resourceful working folk, like i aspire to be. thanx to my dad for turning me on to almost all of these places.
- tj's coney island (cass & railroad, mt. clemens)
the pita sandwiches are very good. watch out for dana, the smart-aleck waitress with surplus attitude.
- cola bar (12 mile & hayes, warren)
notable for the marker art scattered over any available surface. the food and service is pretty good, depending on the waitress and who is working.
- the original ham place (31401 groesbeck, fraser)
formerly happy days. located across from lee's ham cafe (pigs beware). coca-cola motif, informal pricing.
- little daddy's parthenon & coney island (32832 woodward, royal oak)
the food was not served hot. the wait staff was not attentive. the only good thing that i can say is that the manager ate the bill, so they deserve another chance. hopefully, it can get better.
- maria's (main street, almont)
the food was okey-dokey. they get docked one lunchbox for the uncleaned tables. and another one for the hideous hair on our waitress.
