desiderata is an online zine (ad)venture; its participants varied and sometimes quite anonymous to protect the rights of the innocent. It has been imagined to provide a forum for thought provoking discussion and commentary, with a somewhat serious tho humorous contemplation on life, love, and all of its accoutrements. Expectations may include a plethora of chatty info derived from art/music happenings, reviews, tasty finds in obscure eateries, pre-teen perspectives, fashion police beat, fictitious fodder, political overtures with plenty of opinion, steamy Cath girl archives (18+ please), current goings on in the Detroit area, and anything worth mentioning for its (not so) intrinsic value. desiderata aspires to be a venue for free-thinking, uninhibited thought without ramification other than the much requested response by those found in its audience

...so what exactly is that supposed to be?
...the desideratum was alleged to be a universal panacea sought by alchemists during the middle ages...a cure for all that ails...this mission is far less altruistic...thru the use of words, images, commentary, graphics...to be thought-provoking...to cause an outbreak of discussion...there is an invitation herein...if you have a reaction...and i pray that you do...to find the reply instruction...disagree...confront perceptions...misconceptions...express some human emotion...to create something beyond need...which leads back to that paltry definition...the root is desire...the urge is a need to fill the fracture in our spirit...the void in our psoul...we can make it up as we go...we can use whatever we can expropriate from the cultural vulture that hovers over us...we are fodder for consumer commercial responses to stimuli...we are carrion for false notions of team spirit...patriotism...corporate loyalty...dysfunctional family unity...counter-cultural revolution reactionaries...identification with brand names...tattooed on our psyches...embedded in our bio-chips...
